the KSP advantage

Science is used as the basis for preparing you to reach your goals.  Sara knows how to build interval sets and conditioning programs from scratch.  That means she doesn’t use pre-built workouts that someone else developed.  It also means that she understands exactly what each workout will do for you from a physiological perspective. She also spends a lot of time understanding how your program is working for you; listens to your feedback, and interprets your data.  She thinks outside of the box, and evaluates the athlete as an individual, and trains for the specificity of the sport.  She is creative in her approach to each individual, and gets results.

You won’t be tied to your training program. Often times, people begin to feel like following a workout schedule is just another job or chore.  Believe Sara when she says she’s been there.  Sara knows how to work with you in creative ways that allow for what she calls “unstructured structure.” It allows you to be flexible and have fun, and still progress in your training. So, you don’t have to give up coaching in order to have fun training! And you don’t have to give up racing because your training is manageable.

You will learn about yourself as an athlete.  The more you understand about yourself and your workouts, the better off you are in the long-run. Sara won’t hide behind terminology, and explains the purpose of your training fully.  She’ll tell you why she approaches things a certain way, and helps you gain a solid understanding of your own strengths.  When it comes to achieving your goals, this information is invaluable to you!

Up-to-date information helps you achieve your goals. Sara’s efforts to stay updated in the field of exercise physiology are, in a word, tireless.  She strives to remain on top of the latest research and findings through her membership with the American College of Sports Medicine. Sara also develops relationships with top practitioners in sports-related fields so that she has a network of professionals with which to consult.

The athlete-coach relationship is a partnership. It’s 7 o’clock, and you finally kept up with that group ride and you want your coach to know. Call her, because your coach is your ally and she wants to hear from you.

Training is more than just physical, it's psychological. At KSP, your personal interests and desires come first. From the first interview, Sara begins to learn about the person that you are; and takes this into careful consideration when working on your training program.  She uses her training in sports psychology to help give you a mental edge on race day. Whether its strategy and tactics, or simply dealing with anxiety about outcomes, Sara is on your side to help you reach your potential.  No athlete is deemed "not tough enough" or "not focused enough." Every person is considered in the context of who they are, what they want, and how to get them there.
